PARA PACKINGHow to Parapack your Kite
Land Kite & stake down handles. Take kitebag to kite. Take hold of one wingtip of the kite, and drag the kite so it is edge on to the wind. Fold wingtips into the centre of the kite. If very windy, you may need to kneel on the downwind fold. Continue folding the edges into the centre until the kite is a manageable size.
Once kite is manageable, ensure the bridles are free from tangles and lying downwind of kite Take hold of the bridles and lay them in the centre of the kite (Kite may need to be pulled forward to do this), and then continue folding the edges into the centre with bridles now inside kite
Continue folding until kite is narrow enough to fit into your rucksack. Now, squeeze the air from the kite, and fold lengthways until it will fit into the kitebag.
Put kite into bag with the lines attached. Pick up the rucksack (supporting lines), and walk back to the handles.
Kneel down next to the handles. If right handed, take hold of the bag in your left hand and pass the lines through the same hand. (Passing the line through this hand maintains tension on the lines when packing). Take the lines in the right hand underneath the left hand
With your right hand, pull the lines through the left into the bottom of the bag. At the bottom of the bag release the lines. Move right hand back up to the left hand. Take hold of another handful of lines. Pull lines through to bottom of bag and continue stuffing the lines into the bag in this hand to hand manner.
When you reach the handles unstake them. Carefully push the handles into the opposite side of the bag from the newly packed lines. Zip up bag taking care not to trap any lines.
Unpacking
Simply reverse the above procedure.
1) Open bag, carefully take out handles and stake these down.
2) Walk slowly backwards downwind, keeping tension on the lines. The line should unpack neatly from the bag. If clumps of lines come out, continue walking and shake the lines gently.
3) Once all the lines are out, pull the kite out of the bag, and unfold. Give the kite a shake and it should inflate and sit up, held by the tension in the brake lines.
4)Walk back to the handles and launch.
